Learn how to tell your story so the world listens. Study contemporary memoirists to understand the principles of effective storytelling in this popular genre. Memoir writing is one–part experience and one–part reflection. How much of each varies from one artist to the next. Using artists’ journals and in-class writing exercises, you will have the opportunity to explore various ways to approach your experience and to build your skills for reflection. This course culminates in your memoir project that showcases your unique and utterly original voice using word and image combined. 3 credits.
